A Tribute to My Beloved Friend Shantanu

If someone would ask me the happiest moment of my life.... I would say there are many.... But this one's quite special.... And that special moment I still recollect goes something like this....
"On Monday morning (21/09/09) my friend Shantanu called out my name with a sweet smile." And that was a very special moment for me. A moment which gave me unbounded happiness.....
What!!!! Did you just say, "Whats so special about this?"
Well it always depends on the context. And trust me, at the end of this post, even you would agree that it was indeed one of the best moment of my life.

On Sunday morning I got a call around 9:30am. The call was from my friend Reema. I picked up the call and all I heard was (in a sharp tone) " Have you heard Shantanu is admitted in the hospital.... He's suffering from Lukemia (Blood cancer)". I was totally shocked to hear such an unexpected news. I immediately asked her few more details and then she told me that he was suffering from this deadly disease since past two & a half months. That added some more tension to my existing mental condition. After saying all this she asked me to keep it confidential and also she insisted on not visiting the hospital.... She said that might add to more tension among the family members. Also it might create chaos in the hospital if we visited to see him.... I couldn't say a single word to convince her. With a dull mind I continued the rest of my day as per schedule. In the evening at 9:00 pm i saw a few missed calls from my other friends. They asked me if I knew about Shantanu's case. And I said yes... So we decided to meet him the next day at 11:00 am...
I had a hot discussion about "Living for passions", with my college friend Viraj, while I was returning from my classes. After returning home from classes I immediately called one of my friends who had already been to see Shantanu. I asked him his condition ... and the reply added some more to my shock. My friend said that he was totally unconscious in the evening and that his pulse rate was a whomping 200. That night I couldn't sleep till 2. All I could think of was "Shantanu".
The next day, Monday (21/09/09), was a holiday on account of Eid. I got up early. And then, myself and Viraj went to the hospital where Shantanu was admitted. There my school mates had also come to see him. We went to the ICU.... And...................................
................I was shocked to see that Shantanu's face was no longer recognizable... His entire body was just a set of bones.... He had lost all of his tissues and muscle mass due to 3 strong doses of Chemotherapy...... I entered the ICU. I was frightened and couldn't think of what to speak. His mother was sitting beside his head, gently caressing his forehead. His dad was standing near us. I was worried. A number of questions arised simultanoeusly in my mind. "How is his situation", "Should I talk", " Is he gonna survive", "O my ... what happened to his cute chubby charming look". And then came the happiest moment of my life. Shantanu called out my name. " Aaaaa...d..d..." he could hardly speak. He was in great need of breath. As he tried to utter my name, he gave me a smile. I quickly prompted out my name. And he heaved a sigh of relief. I was so happy he recognized me and also called out my name, I actually went on telling people about this, later that day. Then he recognized few of my other friends too. Then one of my friend Pushkar said, "Hey buddy get well soon and then we would go to malls... Have lotsa funn.. eh!" He nodded his head. He wanted to say a lot but couldn't speak. He just gave us a smile and then tears rolled out of his eyes. His dad leaned forward to wipe off his tears... The moment was indeed very touchy...
All of us then came down the hospital building and we were discussing how happy we felt after seeing improvement in his condition. Personally, I gained hope that he would recover very soon.Then in an hour or so we heard a news saying that Shantanu's condition was again critical. Now we were worried. We waited till around 1:30 pm when it was almost lunch time. One of Shantanu's relatives insisted upon us to go back to our homes, have lunch and then return back in the evening. We did so.....
In the evening we went to the hospital around 7:15pm when few more friends joined the us. I just saw him from the small window of the ICU door...... This time I was totally taken aback. I could see Shantanu desperately gasping for breath. His pulse rate had gone up again. His aunt came and told us , "This is not the image that you should probably remember.... Remember your healthy Shantanu... How charming he used to be." She further informed us that Shantanu's brain had stopped working and all he was surviving upon was just a pair of lungs. She said if anyone felt like donating blood then they may go and do so at the blood bank, but it would be of no use.. She said that the doctor had given up hopes. I felt very sad about the situation.
After half an hour we left back to our respective homes with the plans to meet him the next day. I reached home had my dinner and then as my mind wasn't completely stable I just sat over the Internet to check my mails. I informed a few online friends about this situation. Then I got a call. The call conveyed a message which I didn't want to hear... Shantanu started his journey towards Heaven. We all immediately went to take a last look at the body. The relatives asked us to come in the morning around 6:30am as they felt there might be chaos around. So we left.
The next morning around 6:30am I reached Shantanu's residence. Few of my friends had already reached his place. I went upstairs to see that Shantanu's body was wrapped in a blanket. After few moments I came back downstairs. In an hour or so the final rites took place. It was very painful to see the agony of his mother and father.
I came back home around 10:30am, had my bath, finished few of my chores and then sat down with my cellphone. All of a sudden a I did something wierd. I messaged Shantanu...... " We all love you Shantanu. You will always remain alive in our hearts." I didn't get a delivery report. My eyes became moist. Perhaps I realised that emptiness, I realised that there was someone missing from my life, who would have definitely replied me back....

From this entire incident I learnt two big things in my life:
1. I WOULD ALWAYS LIVE MY PASSION, SO THAT WHEN I DIE, I WOULD DIE WITH CONTENTMENT.
2. I WOULD ALWAYS STAY IN TOUCH WITH MY FRIENDS. NO MATTER WHAT. COZ I STILL REGRET NOT KEEPING IN TOUCH WITH SHANTANU.
Miss you Shantanu.

Upon my arrival to the station,
I was in dire need of relaxation.
Being tired after a long day,
"Gimme a breath!", I did pray.

On the vacant bridge was I sitting,
And once for all I stared thinking.
A sudden cool breeze touched my heart,

Calm was the scene with the leaves just rustling,

CONTROVERSY: LANDING ON THE MOON

What?s wrong with this picture?

As reported by NASA, the astronauts did not take any lighting equipment with them. Therefore the only source of light to the moon was the sun. The various arrows in the picture indicate the various directions of shadows falling on the surface of the moon. Just tell me how many suns are there around the moon's vicinity.

Again the various shadows indicate various directions of shadows falling. Meaning there were more than one sources of light as in a studio.Further more if the gravitational force on the moon is 1/6th of that on the earth, even a 500 pound man will not engrave such a deep footprint and clearly mark the pattern of his shoe print so clearly.

Just see that???? if there is no atmosphere on the moon then there should be no wind. Then how is it that the U.S. flag is clearly waving in both the pics.
Also as there is no atmosphere it should be clearer to see the outer space from the moon than from the earth.

Just way too many things wrong with this picture
(1) No stars in the sky.
(2) If you look in Armstrong?s visor you would see the reflection of the person taking photo
Take a look at his shadow?..it would make sense to think that the sun would be directly behind Armstrong (the main above pic not the reflection pic below)
Then how come it also appears that Armstrong?s body is receiving light form the right side as well. Notice how is Armstrong?s shoulder is much brighter than the left one.
The object marked with a ?C? is the camera placed on the chests of the astronauts.If this picture is really taken by the guy whom we had seen in the visor then that person would have been at least 7-7&1/2 feet tall, which none of the Apollo members were. It couldn?t be that the camera was pointed upwards for this picture because if you looked at the background it is obvious that the photo is taken on a declining angle. i.e. from an elevated position. And the reflection of the person who took the photo shows that he is standing perfectly straight and not on any kind of elevation such as a hill or a rock.

Here?s a cool picture of an astronaut getting off the Lunar Lander.
Even on earth when someone on something is in a shadow its barely visible.
On the moon however there are no air molecules, which means that anything on the moon would be pitch-black. But yet in this picture, even though the man is purely in the shadow of Lunar Lander he is so nicely lit up that even his butt crease is visible.

The Lunar Lander behind the mysteriously waving U.S. flag has landing mechanism that forces 25000 pounds of upward thrust. They landed successfully and then took off from the surface with the same force.It seems odd that when such a massive force of heat and mass is generated directly on the moons surface no sort of any crater is formed beneath the Lunar Lander, but yet in the top picture the foot print of the man is so clearly engraved in the moons surface.

Armstrong and Aldrin are almost of the same height.
Then why is it that Aldrin?s height is twice that of Armstrong?s?

The Conspiracy still remains??.who knows?????

It may sound like science fiction, but the prospect that suicide bombers and hijackers could be made redundant by flying is a real one.

The technology for remote controlled light aircraft is now advanced, widely available-and experts say virtually unstoppable.

Models with a wingspan of five metres, capable of carrying 50 kilograms(110.23 pounds) remain undetectable by radar.

And thanks to the satellite positioning systems, they can now be programmed to hit targets some distance away with just a few metres of pinpoint accuracy.

Security services, the world over have been considering this problem for several years, but no one has come up with a solution.

?We are observing an increasing threat from such things as remote-controlled aircraft used as small flying-bombs against soft targets,? the head Canadian secret services, Michael Gauthier, said.

According to Gauthier, ?Ultra-light aircraft, powered hang gliders or powered paragliders have also been purchased by terrorist groups to circumvent ground-based countermeasures.?

In august 2002, for example the Cambodian military reported finding nine small remote controlled planes at a base it had taken from Revolutionary Armed Forces (RAEC)

On April 11, 2005 the Lebanese Shiite Militia group, Hezbollah, flew a pilotless drone over Israeli territory, on what called a ?surveillance? mission. The Israeli military confirmed this and responded by flying warplanes over southern Lebanon.

Remote-controlled planes are not hard to get hold of, according to Jean-Christian Delessert, who runs a specialist model plane shop near Geneva.

?Putting together a large-scale model is not difficult- all you need is a few materials and decent electronics technician,? says Delessert.

In his view, ?if terrorists get hold of that, it will be impossible to do anything about it. We did some tests with a friend who works at a military radar base: they never detected us??if the radar picks up, it thinks it?s a flock of birds and automatically wipes it.?

Bruce Simpson, an engineer from New Zealand, managed to produce a contraption in his garage: a mini cruise missile (visit his site: www.interestingprojects.com ). He made it out of readily available materials at cost of less than 5000$.

Japanese company Yamaha, meanwhile has produced 95 kilogram (209.44 pound) robot helicopter that is 11.8 feet long and has a 256cc engine.

So soon military power would NOT comprise of financial or technological development as technology can be harnessed even from the crap.

Sandeep Acharya from Bikaner is the second Indian Idol !! Almost all judges and the hosts were predicting a Karunya win but Sandeep?s ever smiling presence and lovable personality along with his singing talent helped him become the Indian Idol. Karunya from Hyderabad is regarded as the better singer by most of the judges. The fact that he is from South India where not many people watch Hindi programs could have been one major factor in this win.

Everyone feels that Karunya should have been the next indian idol. Then if they had such a feeling why didn't they vote for Karunya.I too gave 30 votes for Karunya. Anyway I was just chatting with my friend about this fact that Karunya should have been the next Indian Idol. My friend excalimed that he was happy with Sandeep being the next indian idol. I wondered how he gave such a reply while he was supporting for Karunya all these days. He said that there is no connection between being an indian idol and being a singer. Indian idol is just for the sake of money whereas a true singer is for fame and love. Just by sending a few votes isn't the criteria for choosing a good singer. A true singer is the one who brings out the emotions who reaches the public heart.

Scientists have found a molecule that can spin freely in liquid, clearing out water like a person swinging suitcases would clear a crowded room.

The molecule spins without causing friction [Video]. That shouldn't be possible, according to a chemical physics theory. The finding could alter the way scientists think about chemical reactions in liquids.

Researchers hit a drop of iodine cyanide and water with pulses from an ultraviolet laser, exciting one type of molecule to reconfigure into a small, peanut shape with a carbon atom on one end, a nitrogen atom on the other.

The molecule heated up to 8,000 degrees Fahrenheit (4,427 Celsius) and started spinning at a furious 270 trillion rotations per minute.

Within the first quarter-turn, the molecule created a shock wave that kicked away surrounding water molecules. The peanut molecule created a nearly frictionless zone for itself in the 10-trillionths of a second the reaction lasted.

"If you give it enough spin, it pushes all the guys around it away, and it builds itself a little bubble," said study coauthor Stephen Bradforth of the University of Southern California. "It's destroyed the friction in the liquid around it by completely reshaping its environment."

After the molecule completed about 10 rotations, the shock dwindled and the water molecules rushed back in.

Despite its fleeting nature, the reaction managed to smash the linear response theory, a chemistry model that states such a thing can't happen in a liquid environment.

"You can see molecules behave this way in gases, but not in liquids," said study coauthor Richard Stratt, a chemical theorist at Brown University.

Breaking other laws

The molecule's activity also runs against Newton's third law of motion, which states that for every action there is an equal, but opposite, reaction. In the new experiment, there water molecules are displaced, but they don't in turn do anything to the peanut molecule.

Friction is important in chemistry. Molecules rub, grind, and bang against each other they generate heat that speeds up reactions. Friction in gas reactions is reduced due to the relatively far distances between molecules, but the close proximity of molecules in liquid form makes friction nearly unavoidable.

Although the discovery has no immediate practical use, it changes the way scientists think about the 90 percent of all chemical reactions that take place in liquid, Bradforth said. One potential use could be to manipulate reactions by isolating molecules from their surroundings and reducing the production of useless byproducts.

CONTROVERSY: IIT-JEE (NEW PATTERN)

This year 3-lakh students appeared for iit jee exam, the exam which is considered as one of the most mind-boggling exams around the globe. This number is 1.02-lakh more than that of last year. Over 3-lakh students will battle out for just 4935 seats across 7 iit's. The jee examination is to be held across 116 centres in India.

Ironically the reason for increase in this huge competition is the change in pattern, the pattern reduced to relieve stress among the students. instead of two-phase examination conducted till 2005, the iit-jee has been a single day's test consisting of three papers namely physics chemistry and mathematics, each of two hours. The requirements for appearing this examination is 60% or above marks in H.S.C. examination .

Another change is that there will be 3 marks for correct answer and there will be 0.33 negative-marking for every wrong answer. the candidate will be given only two attempts to crack the examination.

The students this year were not at all active. Any Tom Dick and Harry would appear the exam just to test their luck or with the impression that the paper would be very easy to crack.

CONTROVERSY: FAKE ATTEMPT

Listen to this....Smita M. walked out of the joint entrance exam with a smile on her face. No, she hadn't been confident that she would cracked iit-jee....but just because she made some money just by getting the iit-jee paper out for the coaching classes to publish and for private circulation. There were many students like Smita who did not even breathe the word iit but had just attempted to make money. Even a few young faculty member's did the same.

It was very simple, the chosen candidate had to go to the examination hall, and with the reason for toilet or something else slip out of the class with the Q-paper and never return back again. this was done so because the iit's didn't allow the Q-paper's with the new pattern to get out in view.

Many of the coaching-classes had published the question paper on their respective websites.

Does God Exist?
A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists." "Why do you say that?" asked the customer. "Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine loving God who would allow all of these things."
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.
The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist." How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!" "No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."
"Ah, but barbers DO exist!" answered the barber." What happens is, people do not come to me. "Exactly!" affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

Now are you convinced that god exists? So next time you are face any obstacle immediately first think of god. Call him from the bottom of your heart and the feeling of danger and loneliness would disappear. You will feel more confident and would tack the situation gracefully. Keep waiting for my next post.
